Growing bigger
Well, I have just returned home from my antenatal appointment at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital in London. The team there have been excellent so far. I have to see the Obstetrician, Diabetologist, Diabetes nurse and Diabetes midwife at various times but today I saw Dr Modder (Obstetrician). She said that the scan I had last week was fine but my bump was clinically a bit larger than it should be. Clive keeps telling me that it is all the cake I am eating!! Unfair - but at least I use an insulin pump that helps me modify my insulin doses to match my food (cake!) intake more closely.
Well all the information that I have read says that I will be craving doughnuts now. Not sure about that but I just love a good bar of chocolate!!! I will be having a check up every two weeks now and regular scans. This is to help prevent any problems that can arise due to diabetes in pregnancy. OK - signing off for now.

Meet our boy at 20 wks old. He is now 26wks old and kicking well! I have just been shown how to set this blog up my by husband Clive. It still seems odd calling him "my husband" as we only got married in June 2005 (five months ago). We have known each other for a couple of years and got engaged at Lands End in January 2005. As I am getting on a bit now (40 this year too - its been a big year!) we decided to start trying to have a baby early this year. As I have diabetes (more later), we went to pre-conception counseling to discuss all the risks. I still feel very lucky to have got this far but we still have a long way to go.
